Ken,

See if WMIDiag / repairing WMI helps

Ramesh,

Additional information:

When I try the Comprehensive rebuild of the WMI as per the instructions on
your site, I get a "cannot copy files" from the service pack i386 folder
under Windows, and from the slipstreamed XP SP2 install disk. I have tried
changing the attributes of the Windows folder and all subfolders and files
from read-only by unchecking the box under properties, but there is no
effect. And this is the same problem I had earlier in trying to do a repair
install of XP Pro. The files to be copied are there, but can neither be
copied nor expanded. Does this have something to do with permissions? If so,
how do I fix that? I have only one user and it is as Administrator.

Thanks again,

Ken

Ken,

The log indicates that some WMI modules are not registered. See if the steps
in section "Re-registering the WMI components" in that article helps.
