ICS/Firewall Service and others randomly stop

I have a computer running XP Pro SP2 and the ICS/Firewall service will stop
along with the Time service, server service and several other services, when
I try to start them I get access denied. Any clue to what might be causing
this?

Not for sure how it wouldve gotten hacked considering there are 2 firewalls 1
hardware and 1 on the server and the xp pro sp2 box had all the updates on
it. I would like to think Microsoft would have a fix for this issue other
then format. Thanks for the reply but I dont believe that is the problem, i
had another pc doing the same thing and it turned out there was a piece of
software installed that was causing the problems. So I guess I will just keep
digging.

A hardware firewall protects as good as its integrated A/V. Desktop
firewalls protect against few species (Blaster/Sasser worms) only.

Any software crippling a system like that is supposed to be "Malware".
However, since your administrative privileges have been restricted in
addition, it's not unlikely at all that your system has been hacked.
So I guess I will just keep digging.

Good luck.

Sorry, I snipped that part by accident. Sure, there are two fixes: One
is called "System Restore", the other "Repair Install". Both of them
have in common that they do *not* clean an infested system. Therefore,
these fixes should not be applied prior to checking the Malware status
and the term "Malware" means virii, worms and trojans in this case
rather than poor software.
