Windows hangs at black xp logo screen

i am having the same problem. i recently used registry mechanic choosing the
compact registry option. Then i was instructed to restart my computer which
starts always with the black screen stating that some hardware or software
may have caused this problem and if i want to start in safe mode, safe mode w
net or last good configuration. If i choose any of the safe modes then it
list some .sys files and never goes to safe mode. On the other hand if i
choose last good config or start windows normally the windows xp logo black
screen comes up. The computer screnn then just becomes black and never goes
to the desktop. Also when using the xp cd and n other occassions the
computer will just pop itself off like a ghost or poltergeist is in it. Any
suggestions or help to get me back to the desktop??????????? Pulezzz help

As you have seen, you should not have used a
registry cleaner with Windows XP. You can
try a "Repair Install" and see if that works. If
not, your only option is a "Clean Install".
