Windows Genuine

I have a perfectly legit Laptop with Preinstalled Windows however it now has
a dirty great 'this software is not genuine' logo on it and I have no idea
how to solve this. When I go the the Genuine Advantage (dis-advantage more
like) it says there is an error with validation. The only offer is to pay
£35 to solve the problem (seems like a rip off and I won't pay this on
principal). Alternatively I can cantact the OEM - Samsung don't seem to
offer that kind of help....

Sorry I don't have the 800 number to Microsoft, but if you call them
they should be able to help you. They have a specific phone number to
solve validation issues.

Search this group for WGA in the subject line, it's been a very busy
topic.

Using some thing like The magical Jellybean key finder
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml check to see if the
product key of the installed version of XP is the same as on your
Certificate of Authenticity (COA) that should be stuck on the bottom of
your laptop. If the two do not match then change the key to the one on
your COA using one of the following, some manufacturers image the
install of XP from a master image so the product keys do not match the
COA. You may have to re-authenticate with the new Product Key.
