Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications - freezing during "finishing installation"

Landy

I recently decided to update several "non core" Windows components, and
ticked a box for WGAN. All seemed to install OK and the rebooted. WGAN
then pops up and says "finishing installation" with the additional message
"finishing processes after install". The progress bar gets to about 75% and
just sits there - forever! This now happens every time I boot up, and I
can't get rid of it since WGAN is not listed in the add/remove programs
list.

BTW I have run the online validation for both windows (XPSP3) and Office
(2003) and all was OK. This has only happened on my work PC which is behind
my university's firewall and authenticating proxy server. I suspect one of
these might be the issue.

Any ideas?
cheers
Bill

You need to format your hd and reinstall windows.

And the headers prove another impersonation by the resident unethical
hack. Following the advice of someone that impersonates other users may
result in the compromise or corruption of your system.

you need to get your head out of your ass !!!

The post was from someone impersonating myself - they were exposed as a
sock of PCBUTTS and now he's going nuts impersonating me in various
groups.

I have posed headers and sent an abuse complaint to the Usenet provider
with proof of impersonation as well as destructive posting advice.

WGAN is Microsoft's baby. If it screws up, call them and make them fix it.

Is this an admission of guilt? By definition, only YOU can
impersonate yourself, so the poster in this case would have been you.
Perhaps you meant "The post was from someone impersonating me."

What a load of baloney! All someone has to do to is impersonate here is use
the same nickname!
I'm still wondering if anyone here has something useful to contribute to my
original question. After you've all finished your self abuse that is.
