windows freezes after opening multiple windows

hi, my computer freezes when ever i open more than 2 internet explorer
windows. sometimes it freezes just when i open windows media player or other
applications, but it definately freezes as soon as i try to open more than 2
ie windows.

please help

I would suspect a bad memory chip. I would switch out two halves of the
memory, to see which half had the error. (or get some software for checking
memory)
