Hello,
Several months ago I reinstalled XP SP2 on system. Ever since then Windows
frequently forgets my video settings and goes back to 640x480x4. If I try
to reset the screen resolution to its normal mode (800x512x32), the screen
blanks, and stays at 640x480x4. To get windows back to 800x512x32 the
following sometimes works:
Select 1600x1024x4
reboot
Windows boots and is at 640x480x8. If get this far then I can switch to
800x512x32 without a problem and the setting stays until I reboot. However
about 60% of the time I get 640x480x4 and switching to 800x512 won't
succeed. I have tried renaming the monitor7.inf, renaming display.inf,
deleting t2r4disp.dll, and deleting t2r4mini.sys. Then I uninstalled the
Number Nine Revolution IV video card from device manager and rebooted. The
problem is when the system boots I am stuck at 1024x768 and a very small
font, in short not usable. The monitor is a SGI 1600SW. The problem is NOT
hardware. I dual boot with Linux and Linux works 100% of the time. What
can I do to fix the problem?
Thanks,
