WINDOWS folders in the recycling Bin

Hello Win XP gurus

I have found a problem that may not be a problem. My Recycle Bin shows that there are files (folders) to be recycled, but no icons show up in the Recycling Bin. When I click <Empty Recycling Bin> it asks me if I'm sure I want to delete 'WINDOWS.' This is a frightening thought, but I suspect these are just discarded system files that Win XP didn't automatically discard

By drilling down from My Computer, I have determined these files to be

These folders look like discarded or temporary Registry folders, so I think they're safe to discard. Any thoughts on whether I should go ahead and delete them forever? I'd hate to permanently delete too much

Bill,

IMPORTANT: All the files deleted previously will be erased permanently.

If this does not help, create a dummy notepad document and save it. Delete the file and let it go to recycle bin.
Now, empty recycle-bin

Solution 2: You may want to delete the Recycled folder or follow Kelly Theriot's repair solution. (Deleting the info2 file). You may need to restart Windows after that.

Thank you Ramesh

Your pointing me to Kelly's Korner gave me the assurance that I could identify what was in the hidden files in my Recycling Bin via "exploring" the Recycler folder. After identifying that I only risked losing two files (which I restored), I used Delete sequentially on all the other files to see what that did. Cleaning the Recycling Bin did not clear the original problem that there was a "WINDOWS" entry in the Recycling Bin that I could not see. Finally, I just did an Empty Recycling Bin and the offending folder has disappeared

Please pass along my diagnostic I'd do it myself, but my wireless access and Internet access were destroyed by the ill-advised (stupid) KB826942 update so I've resorted to simply ignoring error reports (I'm now reporting via another computer). Please explain that many users of non-WPA wireless networks have been snookered into upating via KB86942 and gotten totally disgusted with Misrosoft. The update should have made WPA, WEP or uncrypted all options and we could have coped
