Windows Firewall

My Firewall on my XP Pro SP2 is set for auto under services. I can start
it - and then within a minute it will turn off. I have checked with
hijackthis and I find no unusual start-up gremlins. Any recommendations?

Check the event log to see if there are any errors in the them. Maybe a
piece of malware is disabling it instead.

How competent are you with HiJackThis 1.99? I use it almost daily helping
people fight things that users have neglected not to install on their
machine. Besides, HijJackThis doesn't pick up rootkits etc.

The chances are you have something simple like an unregistered DLL stopping
the service or an access denied error, but in order to diagnose this the
newsgroup needs more information
