Windows firewall loads turned off.

Each time I start the system the Windows XP Pro SP2 Firewall is turned off.
I have to turn it on manually and the Advanced tab shows report "The network
connection settings have become corrupt. To fix this, click Restore Defaults
etc..."

I click the Restore box but nothing changes and the firewall still loads in
the off position. I have Googled for a fix but I don't seem to be asking the
right questions to find a cure.

Another system allows me to change settings and shows what is configured.

Does anyone have any information that can lead me to a resolution?

Thanks.

Jake.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjunction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.
