Turn off Windows Firewall?

Seems like it may be a GPO that turned on my cclients Windows Firewall. I
believe this is preventing one of our third party apps to not function
properly. Logged on as administrator does not even give me the option to
turn it on or off. all options are greyed out. Any input is greatly
appreciated. thanks.

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista x64 SP2) when

Highly unlikely.

Is there such a GPO (or any GPOs) in place?

What third-party app and what's not functioning properly?

Very likely PA Bear because of the error message that pops up. I found the
GPO that prevents me from turning the FW off. I edited the policy and now
users can access the application. Thanks for the input.

What edited it initially?

If they are not a member of a domain - then they are likely
infested/infected and you should either clean them up or advise them to
clean the machine ASAP! This is not a default action of a fully functional
Windows XP or later consumer windows system.

Then the most likely explanation is either the Windows Firewall is not
configured properly or your application's at fault.

If a third-party firewall isn't installed, no Windows user should EVER
disable the Windows Firewall or need to do so.
