Windows Firewall...

I seem to be having a problem with my firewall....It was working fine until
the other day when I downloaded the trial microsoft spyware program, after i
ran the first scan i noticed that my firewall was not enabled. I have tried
to put it back on but i keep getting this message...'Windows Firewallcannot
be displayed because the associateservice is not running, do I want to start
Windows firewall...yes/no?'

When i click 'yes' it then says 'windows cannot start the windows
firewall/(ics) service'

Can anyone advise me with this problem?

I have done a system restore to a date before i installed the program but
still no joy.
