Windows firewall wont shut off

Hi,
I have windows xp pro sp2. Now that I installed sp2 I
cannot shut off windows firewall. I am currently using
Norton firewall which I want to continue to use. Right
now for me to get on the net with internet explorer I
need to shut off Nortons firewall. Why cant I turn off
windows firewall?

And just how are you "turning off" the Windows XP firewall?

You don't say how you are attempting to turn the firewall off. You should go
to control panel and click on the firewall icon (the one with the wall). On
the General tab click the 'Off (not recommended) option and then click ok.

I have a bigger problem, the option as you laid out below (Off is not
accessible, both off and on are greyed aout and I am logged in as the
administrator. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this firewall
stinks, it is blocking my pop3 access even though I set it up as an
exception to allow outbound access to pop3.
