Windows File System and Uninstallation

J

Jeremy Powell

Upon Upgrading my 98se to Win2k Pro i went through the
updates upgrades and services packs and its running faster
and smoother,.

But smaller errors are getting to me,.
first off some removed programs are still in the remove
progams list and i cant find a way to remove them.
Second : When i go to open Explorer tools it tells me i
cant get into it because im not an administrator and in my
profiles i am an administrator and the only user.
Third : Windows Registry files containing Adware are
becoming harder to find with new windows file system. Any
suggestions for the 3 known problems above would be
Useful,. thank you

1. What happens when you try to remove the programs? If you just need to
remove the entries from the Add/Remove Programs list, use the following
article:

247501 How to Manually Remove Programs from the Add/Remove Programs List
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=247501

2. We need more information on this. How exactly are you starting Windows
Explorer? If you click Start/Run and type c: and press OK, do you have the
same error? What is the exact wording of the message? Does it matter what
drive letter or path you are exploring?

3. You may need to change permissions on Files or you may need to just
change the View options. To view hidden files in My Computer or Windows
Explorer, click Folder Options on the View menu in My Computer or Windows
Explorer, click the View tab, click Show All Files, and then click OK.

I would also recommend a spyware/adware removal tool. Here are some links:
