Windows File Protection

Rick

I have winXP with SP2 installed and I just tried to install Microsft
Office 2003. The thing is that windows asked for my sp2 CD because
files had to be updated or changed back to the original files or
something like that. Anyway, when I did insert the sp2 CD, windows
said that it was the wrong CD. I also tried inserting the original
installation disk and I still got the same message. Can anyone shed
any light on this problem? Even turning file protection on or off
yielded the same message.

Hi

Have a look for an i386 folder on your hard disk/partition. Point to that
when asked the XP CD.

Mention the path as C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles

-or-

If you have the XP SP2 slipstreamed CD (not the CD containing the SP2 update), insert it.

The thing is that there is no option available to point to a
particular path. It Just has an ok option and a cancel option. I did
slipstream sp2 into the cd I made along with all the hotfixes using
nlite.

Hi

The slipstreamed SP2 CD should work, so long as you installed XP from it.
