windows file protection alert

received a message while downloading and upgrading KB 833998.
message reads:

"Files that are required to run windows properly have been replaced by
unrecognised versions.
To maintain system stability Windows must restore the original versions of
these files.

The network location from which the files should be copied,

C:\WINDOWS/service pack files\i386/controls.man

is not available.

coutact your system administrator or insert windows XP KB 833998 Source
Files now."


what do i need to do to minimize problems/
i have an authorised and fully licensed version of windows.

what is my problem?

now i am unsure which i have 32 bit or 64 bit.
how can i determine?

i am a novice of sorts.

If you spent thousands and thousands of dollars you have the 64 bit. If you spent normal amount of cash you have 32 bit. Why would you bother installing such a patch. It requires SP1.

i guess it is 32 bit.

why? because the messge said i could have a corrupted Windows.
