My computer was running very slow, so I did a good cleaning. I used a
program called autoruns to remove some startup items. Now I am having
problems getting the fax console to work. I cannot send or recive faxes
and I cannot delete any faxes. I have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling the fax console It still does the same thing.

Did you disable any services when you used Autoruns? If you did then maybe
one of those services is used for the fax...

Try re-enabling your services one by one until you find which one is for
your fax.

What changes did you make with autoruns?

I really only took out photo and messengers, kodak easy share and the
like. I kept the file so I could restore everything, I put it all back
and it still won't start. Is there any other way to do a recovery of
the fax console?

Hmm, not sure. Wouldn't think any of those would cause a problem. What
messengers? How about a system restore to a date when things were working
ok?

See this about common fax problems:

In step 2 it says to make sure that you have the latest drivers are
installed for your fax. I would try this first. It could be that your fax
driver became corrupted. I would find the latest driver and either update or
reinstall it.

You could try uninstalling 'Fax Services' using Add/Remove Windows Components from the control panel via the Add or Remove Programs applet. Then reinstall and set up your preferences again.

After the fax component is re-installed, the next step is configuring it. You can configure the fax service in the Fax Console, the center for faxing tasks. To configure the Fax Console:
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, point to Fax and then click Fax Console.
2. On the Tools menu in the Fax Console, click Configure Fax. This will start the Fax Configuration Wizard. Click Next to start configuring your fax information.
