windows explorer

My last computer ,with Windows XP had an icon on the
desktop which opened windows explorer as in windows 98. I
have just got a new computer also with Windows XP but there
is no explorer - only my computer which eventually gets to
the same display by choosing C:\ drive and folders. Is
there any way to get back to windows explorer

Hi Derek

Right click on the Desktop - New - Shortcut and paste this
command into the location box.

%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,c:\

Under "Start>all programs>accessories, you should find "Windows Explorer".
You can r-click and select "Send To Desktop (create shortcut)", that will
place an icon there.
