Windows Explorer

When I open Windows Explorer, I want to be in 'detail'
view but it will only open in 'icon' view. I have tried
tweaking the registry, used the folder options checking
and unchecking every box, reset all the folders and am at
a lost to figure out how to get the WE to open in detail
view. Thanks ahead of time if you can help.
 
Thanks Kelly. I have been wrestling with this problem
for 2 months and have had numerous suggestions but yours
worked...thanks again.
