how can I get Windows Explorer to tell me how many files and bytes I
have after selecting or highlighting a bunch of files in a folder? It is
not telling me anything like it does at the bottom in windows 98
explorer..

from the said:
Explorer, View, Status Bar.

And if you want it on all folders, press 'apply to all folders', and
then close the window with 'file exit' so it remembers it for next time.
