Windows Explorer won't open

Running XP SP2, IE 6. I cannot open Windows Explorer, Control Panel or IE 6,
unless I am in Safe Mode. When I try to open My Computer or Control Panel,
it closes Explorer and reloads the desktop. When I try to open IE6, I get
the hour glass for a few seconds, but it never opens.

This is an Asus Z7100 Notebook with an nVidia GeForce Go 6600 Video.

Scanned with Symantec and HouseCall online, SpyBot and TrojanHunter. No
viruses or trojans found.

Works fine in Safe Mode.

I've tried system restore - 3 times - no luck. Have tried several things,
reloading IE6 - won't work, updating video - no new video drivers, reinstall
serach assistant - didn't change anything.

I did notice in Docs and Settings a new administrator.hw-1.oo1 account (HW-1
is name of laptop). Any ideas?

Can you recall what did you do prior to this problem?Like any sofware or
hardware installation?

Nothing new - that I know of - loaded. Worked with Microsoft for over an
hour today and did not get it resolved. Tried to scan with Symantec online
but says I need IE5 or above - running IE6, or scripting - enabled...

Created new user - same issue. But, I did notice that under Docs&Settings,
there are the Administrator, Administrator.hw-1 and Administrator.hw-1.000
folders. Not sure why those are there.
