I am unable to open any folders on my desktop, whenever I try to open them I
get a message saying that windows explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close. I've sent the error report dozens of times, downloaded
security pack 2 (even though I don't really want it), scanned for viruses
using Mcafee, Adaware, Spybot, NoAdware, Digital Patrol Scanner, CwShredder,
and a few others. And even tried Mcafee and Adaware in safe mode. I did
initially have some viruses or trojans, but I've cleaned them out. According
to to Mcafee (which it seems I've wasted $70 bucks on)my system is clean. I
also tried to system restore (also tried this in safemode) but my computer is
unable to complete a system restore as well. So now I'm stuck unable to
access any of my folders or files in them. The error message gives me
absolutely nothing to go on as to why explorer isn't opening. Please help!!

Onemanpartyrex,

Gather more informaiton about the error from Event Viewer and post the details here.

How do I view the error messages registered in Event Log?:
