windows explorer suddenly not working correctly

I used to be able to make pictures smaller when emailing them from within
Windows Explorer. Whenever I emailed pictures from the 'file and folder
tasks' window within Explorer, I would get the dialog box asking me if I
wanted to make the pictures smaller. All of a sudden the dialog box doesn't
appear. Anyone else see this sudden change. I figure it is one of the
Microsoft patches/fixes that gets installed automatically on my computer via
automatic update program.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me what register keys I should backup
first, just to be on the safe side? Also, do you have any idea why I lost
that dialog box in the first place? Thanks again for your help.

Just create a Restore Point manually before merging the data (and/or also
download the Disable file).
