Windows Explorer Slow listing folder contents from Folder Pane.

I'm running P4-2.4ghz w/ 1 gb of ram. I have (2) 160gb Seagate SATA
raid 0 drives on a Promise raid controller. I'm running a single NTFS
partition. I have windows explorer set not to remember individual
folder, and the default folder setting is Detail View (File name,
size, attributes,Creation,Modify times, type). I've defragged and
disabled Indexing. I'm 99% certain that I spyware free, <Spybot S&D
1.3, Adaware 6, and Spyware blaster>

Problem: Windows Explorer is extremely slow when listing folder
contents to the Name Pane when selecting a folder from the Folder
Pane. I do not have this problem when use the Address Bar or from the
Name Pane(The pane that lists the folders and the file names). It
will take Windows Explorer like 45seconds plus to list the contents of
C: drive (No that many files located there, but a several folders.)
and I have a C:\files that has a large number of files.

Note: I do NOT experience any delay using the Address Bar and just
typing in C:\ or C:\Files. It is almost instant. And I do not
experience the problem using the Name Pane and just double clicking
the folder I want to open.

When I accidentally use the Folder pane to open my drive(Way I'm use
too), its quicker to open a second Windows Explorer and type C:\ in
the address bar {enter}. and the first instance will still be waiting.
Note it does this on just about every folder, above instances are just
common examples.

It acts like Windows Explorer is recursively recaching every folders
contents from the instant you select a folder in the folder pane. I
have thousands of files, and currently have 200gb of data on the
drive. If anyone has a solutions, I'd love to hear it. I'm also open
to Windows Explorer replacements. spamREMOVE2004 @ myTHIS-woodman.

Yes, it sounds like you need an operating system that does not do this.

If you're really open to Windows Explorer replacements, then stop using
Windows XP and switch to an operating system that can adequately deal
with thousands of files totalling 200GB. Windows is a desktop operating
system designed for secretaries and videogames players.
