Windows Explorer problems

Apparently there are many Windows Explorer issues in Windows XP. I'm
not sure if this one has been reported yet:

If I highlight more than 178 files in a folder at a time, then
right-click, Explorer crashes before it even has a chance to bring up
the context menu. In fact, just using CTRL-C to copy a selection
beyond that limit will crash Explorer. Neither the names nor sizes of
the files seem to make any difference. Today it happened with files of
1k each and relatively short file names. No other programs were
running at the time, either.

I have a similar problem in Windows XP when it comes to image transfers
from my camcorder: Once I've finished copying photos from my
camcorder, then try to clear the images from the camera's buffer, the
computer locks up. This only happens if I try to delete a lot of
images at once, so I wonder if this is related to the Windows Explorer
problem.

Is there some way of solving these problems on my own, or at least a
good work-around? I'm using Service Pack 1 right now, and from what
I'm reading in the newsgroups, the next service pack may only make
matters worse.
