Windows Explorer Problem in XPpro

V

Vince

When clicking on a folder shown in the righthand pane of Window
Explorer, rather than opening the folder, I am getting the SEARCH
RESULTS window displayed.

This is also happening from the Desktop with the folders that I have
generated myself.

I am not aware of anything that was recently changed to cause this to
be happening. Began happening a couple of days ago and PC has been
rebooted since.

Suggestions/Ideas on cause and repair ?

Cause, you edited the Directory filetype in Folder Options - File Types dialog. XP has a different mechanism to previous Windows to indicate not to have a directory verb as a default (as it inheirits from Folder Type). Noone told the File Types dialog that it changed.

Repair type in Start Run

regsvr32 /i shell32

David:

Thank you. Your suggestion worked splendidly.

And, you're correct; I was into Folder Options, But I don't recall
doing anything other than sorting the provided listing at the File
Types dialog. I suppose that was enough to cause the "damage".
