Windows explorer opens at boot up

L

Louis Rost

Running Windows XP home with SP3 and all but .NET Framework 3.5
updates applied on Dell Inspiron 9300.

When system boots, Windows explorer starts up. I also get error
message: Windows cannot find '/idlist,:508:1998'

Updated spybot and malwarebytes and ran both in safe mode. Did a full
scan with malwarebytes. No problems found. Ran AVG8 and no problems
found. Looked at startup and bootini using msconfig and nothing looks
abnormal.

This is my daughter's computer and she told me this problem has been
occurring for a number of weeks. She is not sure what if anything she
did that could have brought this problem on.

Any help solving this problem would be appreciated.

1.FYI:
"Malwarebytes actually performs better in Normal Mode" says Dustin Cook,
co-author of MBAM.

2. Google for: idlist
Lots of info etc.

Good luck :)

This is true.

I'm a bit embarrassed. I had googled for the full message with no
luck. The first link displayed when googling for 'idlist' has
probably provided the answer to my problem. Since the problem was a
bit intermittant I can't be positive yet but it looks good.

Thank you
