windows explorer opening on startup

Mat

Greetings

I've just installed XP Home on a new laptop and have started setting up
various pieces of hardware / software. Recently, when I startup XP, the
system tray icons load up as normal and then Windows Explorer opens up on
the screen without being prompted, specifically into C:\Program
Files\Belkin. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the installation
of a Belkin switchbox, any ideas why this is happening and how I can stop
Windows Explorer from opening up prematurely?

Many thanks

Mat

Probably a bad registry entry. Start/run regedit, and look in these keys for
a reference to Belkin:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg

The entry is likely missing one or both quotes that encase it, or is
truncated in some fashion.
