Windows Explorer Locks up for A Specific User Only

Whoa, this one has me stumped. I am an IT guy so I am quite
knowledgeable with WIn XP. Here's the situation:

Running Win XP Pro SP2.
The system seems to run adequately for all apps EXCEPT Windows Explorer
(IE works fine). Anytime I launch Explorer.exe the machine hangs. I
can CTL-ALT-DEL to task manager, and end the task and get my system
back, however still can't use my file manager/explorer.

If I logout and login to the same machine with a different user, it
works perfectly though, so obviously it is something (in the registry?)
about the one user. I've tried disabling all startup programs and
non-MS Services via MSCONFIG but to no avail. Same problem occurs. So
I suppose it's is something in the registry- but what? The only
problem seems to be when trying to do file management operations via
Windows Explorer.

Any thoughts? Ideas?
Regards,
Glenn

I should also mention these two things (which I forgot in my original
post)
1) There is no antivirus or antispyware software (at the moment) which
is interfereing. Additionally the machine IS clean from virus/spyware
2) I can use Explorer-like functions within other apps. So I can go to
Excel, etc. and do I File | Open and navigate or otherwise rename,
delete, copy whatever from there.

TIA!
Glenn
