Windows Explorer has renamed local disk C:

I'd be grateful for any suggestions on how to rename the C drive 'folder'
name as it appears in Windows Explorer. I was copying some data disks from
another partition drive E to a cd and some time later I realised that the
folder name had changed from Local Disk C (C:) to another folder name I had
created in the E drive although it still has the extension in the name (C:).
The icon has also changed from the default 'drive' icon (like the one against
the E drive) to an Internet Explorer icon with the top right hand page turned
down. No amount of renaming (by right mouse button) or using IconPackager
with rename or change the icon. There are no apparent problems but I wonder
whether this issue is symptomatic of problems to come. Any help gladly
accepted!

Thanks for the reply, Kelly. However, it didn't do the trick. When I ran it
the message was: "DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in Shell32 succeeded". Do
you think that Windows Explorer is slightly corrupted? When I look at the
drive using Properties, it shows correctly as Local Disk C (C:) in the
insertion window, but although I can rename it there, the view in WE still
remains unchanged. I say this because I can rename the E: drive name in
Properties.

Any other thoughts?

1. No, all seems to be well from what I am reading.
2. Most interesting, as when using a certain method, the renamed file
inhereits the folder name.

Would be very interested in your dropping me a note via private email, as I
would need you to export and send me some registry keys. Thanks!

All the Best,

Thanks for your efforts, but in the end I decided to cheat by restoring a
point saved last week. It has re-set the c drive name in WE and also now
alows me to re-name at will. I think I'll keep that!

Thanks again for your efforts, they are much appreciated.
