Windows Explorer hangs up

B

Bos S.

Several times a day, I get the message "Windows Explorer has
experienced an error and must close". Then, my computer freezes up,
and nothing works.

I have Windows XP, home edition. I have the original disc.

What is the best and easiest way to remedy this problem?

Thanks for any help.

How long ago did this happen? Almost sounds like a virus, but not for sure
without seeing. You could use the system restore utility which will roll
back to a date when things were normal, that would be the simplest thing to
try first for you. Can you document the exact errors you are getting so I can
research?

Thanks

I found that there was also a file called iexplore.exe on my E
partition. When I analyzed the disk with Defrag, it said that this
file was fragmented, so I defragged "E". Since then, I haven't had the
problem. It started about a month ago, but recently became much more
frequent. When and if it happens again, I will write down the exact
error message, and notify you. I really appreciate your helpfulness.
