Windows Explorer Folder View won't stay on

When I open windows explorer (XP Home Edition), I always have to click the
folders button to see folders in the right pane. I have tried "telling"
explorer to use this setting for all folders, but each time I reopen
explorer, I get only one pane with folders. I then have to click the folder
button to get to my preferred two pane view.

Now, this is not a critical problem, nor does it take me more than a second.
It just seems like there ought to be a way to have windows explorer open the
way I would like.

Any suggestions?

This will create a shortcut to C: with the Folders Pane showing.
Right click the Desktop | New | Shortcut |
Type or copy and paste this in the box:

%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:

Click Next | Click Finish

Or change the Target of your existing shortcut to
%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:
-----

Or create a shortcut to explorer.exe with this as the
Target: %windir%\explorer.scf

It worked like a charm. Thanks!

I never had this problem at work, running XP Pro. Is this one of the
differences between the two versions?

Thanks again!

No difference. It depends on how the shortcut is setup. If I remember
correctly Windows Explorer shortcut defaults to My Documents.
