windows explorer file view problem

I own an external hard drive. When I open the folders on this HD in Windows
Explorer, it always shows the same view. For example, one of my folders
holds music. THis folder is always shown with thumbnails in reverse
alphabetic order, so the files are first from z to a, then the folders from z
to a. If I change this to list view sorted from a to z, the next time I open
the folder, it reverts to the original view and won't remember the view I
want it to. Also, my picture folders all have different views, some use
thumbnails, others tiles, others filmstrip. I would prefer that they all use
filmstrip, but every time I change it, it always reverts back to the wrong
view. Every folder on the hard drive does this. I also have the same
problem with my ZIP drive. Is there any way to get the computer to remember
the view I was it to?

First off, different folders have different views. See if any of this
helps:

By default, Windows is designed to remember 400 different folder settings
(200 local folders and 200 network folders, for a total of 400 folders).
Windows will start to re-use these stored settings on a 'Most Recently Used'
basis, once the folder limit has been exceeded. You can change this to 8000
by adding this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Windows Explorer/View/[Select Accordingly]. Then Tools/Folder
Options/View/Apply to All Folders.

The sorting method is changed in Windows XP. The method that is used for
sorting is described at the following MSDN Web site: StrCmpLogicalW Function
