My Documents- My Pictures-Filmstrip View

Guest

I have folders in My Pictures and in some folders I can choose View,
Filmstrip. In other folders I can only view thumbnails and don't have the
option to choose View Filmstrip. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the
help.

Check the desktop.ini file in the My Pictures folder. It is a hidden-system
file, so you may need to change folder options to view all files.

When you open it (notepad), the file should appear with the following
contents-
[DeleteOnCopy]
Owner=(your username)
Personalized=39
PersonalizedName=My Pictures
[.ShellClassInfo]
[email protected],-12688
IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\mydocs.dll
IconIndex=-101

You may also want to check
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders in regedit.

The Filmstrip option is only available in those folders that use the Pictures or Photo Album template.

Not sure what you mean by "pictures or photo album template". How would I
know? Thank you

By viewing the 'Customize' tab in the folder's properties dialog -- or -- while viewing a file folder, selecting:

'View' -> 'Customize This Folder...'

This option is only available for user-created folders. The Customize option is not available for system folders (My Docs, My Music, etc.)

Thanks so much. That fixed it. Not sure why it was not there to begin with
as most folders in My Pictures give me the option. appreciate the help.
