using xp pro, sp2, dell 4700 desktop. i back up photos onto a cd-r in
seperate sub folders.

when viewing the photos from the disk, i do not see the filmstrip view,
under views. if i view the folder from a subfolder in my documents, the
filmstrip view is available. i have tried other disks containing
photos-same, no filmstrip view listed under views.

is there a way to obtain the filmstrip view while viewing the disk?

thank you, len kiesling

The 'filmstrip' view is only available to folders of type 'Pictures' or 'Photo Album'. On CDs, you
don't have the customize option to change the folder type. The weird thing is, I checked a photo CD
of mine -- In my CD-R drive, I had normal folder tasks. When I viewed it from my DVD drive,
Explorer auto-sensed the content and gave me picture tasks and the option of 'filmstrip' view as
well!?!?!

The filmstrip view is not available in WindowsXP when viewing
photos from a CD-R or CD-RW. The closest you can get is to rightclick
the first picture and select Windows Picture and Fax viewer and
use the Slideshow feature. Unless someone out there knows
something I don't.
