Windows Explorer Error

When using XP SP2 message occurs system tray resets and some icons
disappear.

Error message
Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Error signature
AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName:
wininet.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2937 Offset: 0007b397

Not sure if error signature detail is always the same.
Appreciate your help to resolve this annoyance.

That's what should happen when this error occurs - explorer.exe runs your
desktop. So when it crashes, your desktop disappears - and then it reloads
itself so you can get back to your desktop!

What follows are some generic repair techniques that will probably fix it.
But there's many other factors that may influence it's success or failure.

What's causing it is a different matter. I'd suggest running SFC.EXE
/SCANNOW from the Run dialog first. Have your XP installation CD handy
(it'll ask for it). Then, after it's done, visit Windows Update to ensure
that all your updates are in place.

Should that not work, the next step would be to try a repair installation of
