Windows explorer error

I have a problem where I keep being told that "Windows explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience."
If I click on Send Error Report, windows then has an issue with opening the
window which will tell me what to do about the error. If I click on Don't
Send, windows explorer is closed and re-opened with the problem occuring
repeatedly.
Can anyone tell me how I can fix windows explorer please?

You should have seen a file name in the error report.

For example, ntdll.dll.

If it is ntdll.dll (or some other file)

Go to Start > Run and type
RegSvr32 ntdll.dll (or whatever file name was displayed)
Click OK.

Before there is a problem, open up Event Viewer : Start > Run and type in
eventvwr.msc. In the window that appears, look under the Applications and
System branch for error messages. Error messages are marked in red and
sometimes yellow. Double click to read a detailed error message. At the end
of the error message will be a link. Double click on that. There will be a
pause. Then a prompt if it's okay to send a bit of info (smaller window
displays what will be sent). Click Yes and the browser should open
displaying more info about that particular error.

Also, if you have a passport account, you can go to the Online Crash
Analysis site (http://oca.microsoft.com/en/welcome.aspx) and view the
reports about the errors your system has been sending in.
