Please post a complete copy of the Stop Error Report.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on the
My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

Also please provide copies of all Error Reports appearing in Event
Viewer about the time the error occurs.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

cause yout computer to shutdown.

It is likely you are trying to access a dirty or damaged CD. Try
another new CD. If that gives the same problem try another. If that
gives the same problem you could have a damaged CD Rom drive. You
could try a drive cleaner.

A problem with McAfee. What McAfee product and version do you have?
Have you observed any problem and how often is error occuring? Does
this error on or about the same time as another error or warning? If
yes please provide detail.

As I said none of the above will cause the computer to shutdown and
none are directly linking to Windows Explorer.

There appears to be more than one problem going on and none seem easy
to fix.

Are you using Pinnacle Studio? If yes which version?

would i know if i was using it i would say no im not

Gary

Install and run HijackThis:
Download HijackThis (Freeware)
http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/

After you start the program it will ask you what you want to do. Click
on Open Misc Tools Section, Open Uninstall Manager, Save List, change
so that you change the Save to folder to Desktop using the arrow up
option. Close HijackThis. Right click on "uninstall list" which has
appeared as an icon on your Desktop, select Open, right click in open
file and select Select All, right click again selecting Copy and paste
the complete text in a further post here. Even if Pinnacle Studio is
not listed it would help to have a list of installed programmes to
work on.

If you haven't come across HijackThis before it's a very useful
anti-spyware tool. It is easy to use but difficult to interpret. It is
normally to produce lists of running processes which are posted to
specialist forums where they are examined by specialists for evidence
of spyware. However, it is also useful for providing a list of
installed programmes.

Gary

Looking through the list my feeling is you are well into the types of
media activity that could cause the type of problem that made me ask
about Pinnacle Studio. Samsung PC Studio caught my eye but the
Samsung
Knowledge Base is not an easy one to question.

I think I need to pick up more clues from your System and Application
logs in Event Viewer. Posting copies in messages has not worked
because
you have more than one problem and most likely more than than two or
three. I need to see the sequence to establish linkage. Can you please
email copies of both logs.

Could you please send copies of both logs by email to my address,
which
is given below removing dump from the address.

(e-mail address removed)

To obtain a copy of the system log please select Start, Administrative
Tools, Event Viewer and place the cursor on System. Click on Action
and
select Save Log file as. Enter file name as systemgardeb, in the Save
as
Type box select Text, click on My Documents to left and click on Save.
Repeat the process selecting Start, Administrative Tools, Event
Viewer
and place the cursor on Application. Click on Action and select Save
Log
file as. Enter file name as applicgardeb, in the Save as Type box
select
Text, click on My Documents to left and click on Save. You can then
retrieve both logs from My Documents for emailing

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties.
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What
drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

Hope this helps.

Its not good to use Spy bot search and destroy in windows XP,because the
latest version deletes the files very important. Actually the files are
destroyed along the threat.
Even Ad aware personal from LAVA seems to be not appropriate because someone
says Spy ware Doctors better than that. LAVA ad aware gets stuck sometimes
during scan.
Now your windows effected maybe some files were deleted so it may never
respond properly. The OS is getting crashed you know.
Try using Windows XP CD to repair your PC,please be aware and have risk to
protect and backup the important DATA before doing so/
Thanks,
