Windows Explorer dropdown freeze

I am having Windows Explorer freeze whenever I try to use the “fileâ€
dropdown. All other dropdowns work fine. I am using XP Proffesional SP2. Any
ideas?

Clicking the "File" menu in Explorer displays the same shortcut menu that's
shown when you right-click an item/empty area in the folder. See if the
following information helps to resolve the slow right-click problem.

You may experience problems in Windows Explorer or in the Windows shell
after you install security update MS06-015:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers:

Right-click is extremely slow only when Network is enabled:

Right click crashes Explorer.exe after installing Windows XP SP2?:

Thank you Ramesh. It took some time for me to solve, but along the way, I
have learnt about shell extensions, what they do, and how to disable them if
necessary!
