Windows Explorer doesn't list all network drives

I can only see one mapped drive in Windows Explorer.
I tried unmapping and remapping - still doesn't show.
Mapped a new drive - still doesn't show.

Just tried mapping another folder on the drive (C:) that does show and
it was OK.
Apparently the D: partition doesn't show. All drives DO show in
another thrid party explorer as the correct mapped drives.

Also, when I insert a CD the label of the CD does not update
consistently.
Sometimes it will eventually show the right label - maybe after I have
rebooted with the CD already in.

What is happening, please.

???Click Start/My Computer under Hard Disk Drives is "D"
drive listed? You may be having a partition problem, for
your "D" drive may also be your CD-ROM drive, thus
causing a conflict. Is your CD-ROM listed as a "D" drive
under drives with removable storage? You cannot have
a "D" partition on your harddrive and also have a "D" CD-
ROM drive. Do some troubleshooting and restate your
problem in Newsgroups.

OK.
I have 2 computers networked. Both WinXp Pro
One is a laptop with ONE drive and 2 partitions, and a CD-RW -
real and virtual drives C,D,E,F,G,H
mapped drives M,N,O,P,R,X = C,D,G,H,R, and My Documents folder on
desktop

One is a desktop with two drives, each with two partitions, and 2 CDs
real and virtual drives C,D,F,G,H,J,R,W
mapped drives X,Y = C,D on laptop

I do not see drive D of the laptop in Windows Explorer on the desktop.
I DO see drive C. If I map a folder on Drive C, it appears. If I map a
folder on drive D, it does NOT appear.

ALSO, Windows Explorer on the desktop does not refresh to display the
CD ID header when a CD is inserted - or to go away when the CD is
removed. The correct header only appears if the system is booted with
the CD is inserted. it works fine on the laptop.

the latter is obviously a reg entry. can you point me in the right
direction?

the former is probably a reg entry also.

thanks
