'Windows explorer' does not work from the MS Office tool bar

The windows explorer command (not explorer.exe) works from the quick launch tool bar but does not work from the MS Office tool bar; the error message is 'there was a problem sending the command to the program'. Previously, it worked from this tool bar, and then stopped working. All other commands from this tool bar including explorer.exe work. However, Explorer.exe starts with 'My documents and one has then to get to c:\ after expanding 'my computer'. Explorer.scf works when it is double clicked in the folder in which the buttons of the MSoffice tool bar are stored.

I would like to know why explorer.scf does not work from the office tool bar short cut, and what can be done to fix this, and what does the extension *.scf mean?

Is there a way that one can change the position of folders in the Windows explorer? e.g. to have 'My Computer' rather than my documents on the top?

Thank you,
Preet

Sometimes you will get the message if ZA has been turned off.
Reboot and make sure ZA is running OK.

I have no idea where I found this

[[There was a problem sending the command to the program

Try doing this,

You will lose all customizations in ZA

1. Go into the Overview Preferences tab and turn off the autostart.
2. Reboot into safe mode.
3. Go into the folder named internet logs (do a search if you don't know
where it lives it varies per OS).
4. Delete everything in that folder.
5. Empty the recycle bin.
6. Reboot into normal windows.
7. Restart ZA manually.
8. Recheck the Autostart.]]

*.scf = Windows Explorer Command
i.e. Show Desktop, View Channels and explorer.

You can change how explorer.exe (Windows Explorer) opens.

This will create a shortcut to C:
Right click the Desktop | New | Shortcut |
Type or copy and paste this in the box:

%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:

Next | Finish

Or change the Target on the Windows Explorer shortcut | Shortcut tab on your
MS Office tool bar.

'Wesley,
Thank you very much for solving my problem. I enabled internet access to MSOffice shortcut bar in the ZA program list, and 'explorer' now works from the short cut tool bar! Thank you also for the information regarding the command line switches that modify the way explorer.exe' opens its window.

Dear sir,
Your suggestion did not work for me. I have problems related to Windows
Explorer as mentioned below:

OS: WinXP SP2 with IE7 beta3 (all updates-uptodate-installed)
Google Toolbar is uninstalled (include Goolge Help components)

Everytime right-click Start/ Explorer or Search, it open the screen. If I
click Explorer into another folder and/or search file, it prompt as below;

Microsoft Visual c++ Runtime Library

runtime error!
Program C:\Windows\Explorer.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

OR

Microsoft Visual c++ Runtime Library

runtime error! Program C:\Windows\Explorer.exe
Abnormal program termination.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Windows/Microsoft update is functionally well, that is without problem.
How to get my Windows Explorer and Search to return to normal.

Thank you.
