Windows Explorer Default Folder

Guest

Folks:

I am using Windows XP (Home).
Whenever I launch Windows Explorer, the default destination folder is "My
Documents."

* Is there some way to configure Windows Explorer to open in some other
folder of my choice ?

Thanks,
Jo.

Create a shortcut with the target c:\windows\explorer.exe /n,/e,
c:\folder-of-your-choice\ and open explorer from that.

Same answer as your multipost in microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

Yep.

[[When you open Windows Explorer using the Windows Explorer shortcut on the
Start menu, the My Documents folder is selected by default.]]
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/221878

[[By default, Windows Explorer starts in the My Documents folder. ]]
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257518

This will create a shortcut to C: with the Folders Pane showing.
Right click the Desktop | New | Shortcut |
Type or copy and paste this in the box:

%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:

Click Next | Type or paste WINDOWS EXPLORER in the Type a name for this
shortcut box | Click Finish

Or change the Target of your existing shortcut to
%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:
-----

Or create a shortcut to explorer.exe with this as the
Target: %windir%\explorer.scf

You can also assign a shortcut key to that shortcut.

Right click the shortcut | Properties | Shortcut tab |
[[With the cursor in the Shortcut key box, select the keyboard key you
want to use in combination with CTRL+ALT. Shortcut keys automatically start
with CTRL+ALT. The Shortcut key box will display None until you select the
key and then the box will display Ctrl+Alt+the key you selected. You cannot
use the ESC, ENTER, TAB, SPACEBAR, PRINT SCREEN, SHIFT, or BACKSPACE keys.

Note
Once you assign a shortcut key combination for a specific program, you will
not be able to use that key combination with other programs.]]

I use Ctrl + Alt + E.

properly it is *GOOD*.

This is called Multiposting and it's *BAD*.

With Outlook Express, which you're using...

To send your message to multiple newsgroups on the same news server, in the
New Message dialog box, click the icon next to Newsgroups. In the Pick
Newsgroups dialog box, click one or more newsgroups from the list (hold down
the CTRL key to select multiple newsgroups), and then click Add. You can
choose from all newsgroups or only those you subscribe to by clicking Show
only subscribed newsgroups.

You can send a given message to more than one newsgroup at a time only if
all the newsgroups are on the same news server. To post a message to
newsgroups on other news servers, create a separate message for each news
server.

Folks:

I tried to view all the switches associated with "explorer.exe" by running
"c:\windows\explorer.exe /?"
Comes back with an error message: "The path "/?" does not exist or is NOT
a directory "

* How can I get a listing of all the switches (n, e, etc) associated
with explorer.exe ?

Thanks,
Jo.

Explorer isn't a command line command - yet it will run from the CMD
window
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307856&sd=tech
are the swicthes - one I use is for my explorer short cut is:
/e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
this lets me open to my computer
