Uing Windws XP Home.
Recently every time I go into Windows Explorer (or My Computer), and
navigate to a file - if I then right click to select the menu and select an
option e.g. delete the program freezes. Although the cursor is still
available and I can perform Ctrl-Alt-Del, I can do nothing else and closing
the program doesn't work. I am forced to reboot.

I have tried System Restores but to no avail.

Any idea how to fix?

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers -
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm

Right click causes an error and crashes Explorer.exe after installing
Windows XP SP2 - http://www.winxptutor.com/sp2/divxcrash.htm

Manage the context-menu entries for folders, drives and Namespace
objects - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/context_folders.htm

Just seen the reply from Malke so I'll be giving that a try. But it will be
over the weekend

Hi there,

No joy. Tried installing the latest version. Might be linked but just
doing this didn't work.

Thanks for trying

Hi again

This tool (Shell View) was on the suggestions from Malke. SO far, it hasn't
worked BUT I have narrowed it down to Microsofts own Send To. I have
realised that the problem arises when I brng the mouse on to that option and
it tries to open the options list. This works from other applications e.g.
MS Word.

I would simpoly disable the function. I tried diabling siuing Shellview but
it made no difference. I need to keep trying in that area. Your mail
provides some other options, but I've got a busy week on, so it might be a
while before I can work through it.

Thanks for the ideas. If you have further knowledge on Send to then let me
know.

I disabled everything that wasnt Microsoft and it seems to be running ok
(fingers crossed)

Another thing you could maybe try, is try and get a clean copy of
Explorer.exe from someone.

I have tried that as well

Remember, only a suggestion though
