Windows explorer conflict

I like to browse local files via Windows Explorer (on
W2K). However after installing IE6, I need to re-open the
WinExp when I start my machine.

Uninstalling IE6 to return to IE5 fixes the problem. Is
there a way of fixing this with IE6?

Thanks,
Graham

We all use Windows Explorer to browse for local files (and those on
mapped drives, too). We all have to re-open Windows Explorer after a
restart of Windows, just like you have to re-open Word to view a
document and re-open Calculator to perform a computation. Are you
saying that Windows Explorer used to open automatically when you
restarted Windows (and after you login)? Well, then add a shortcut to
explorer.exe in your Startup group. Then an instance of Windows
Explorer will open every time you login.

Not just open automatically, but in the same state as when
windows was shut down. This is the case for all previous
versions of IE, under both W2K and NT4. You never noticed?

The only reference I've found to this problem was on a
French language MS site, which was what made me realize it
was IE6 that had caused the change.

Ok, but that still leaves me to minimize "my documents"
and find my way back to where I was last working...
