Windows Explorer can't copy files after SP2

I installed SP2. Now can't copy files in Windows
Explorer. Clicking on a file and pressing control-v
causes Explorer to hang. I have to use Task Manager to
kill Explorer. Same thing happens if I use Edit/copy.
This makes the computer pretty useless for many tasks.
How do I fix this?

Seems like Windows Explorer has a whole range of "issues"
that range from simply crashing for some folks to locking
up only on some keystrokes to refusing to accept any
mouse clicks or keystrokes at all.

Thus far I haven't seen a single newsgroup posting that
specifically addresses Windows explorer. There are all
kinds of postings with generic advice, like "defrag,
for god's sake, just keep defragging..." but none of
these seem to have a shred of evidence to support their
suggestion. Others make generic sense, like if you have
viruses or spyware then this isn't a good thing and get
rid of them, but again there is no real evidence that
any of these are responsible for the problems, but it
is easier to point the fingers at stuff like this than
it is to say that nobody actually has any evidence for
what is causing a specific problem or how to fix it.

Hopefully that will change, soon.

You can go to support.microsoft.com/windowsxpsp2
and open up a support issue with the folks at Microsoft.
You can describe specifically what your problem is and
maybe you will get a fix from them, I've already done
so for my Windows Explorer problem where it just refuses
all keystrokes and mouse clicks. If I get a fix from
them I'll post it.
