Windows Explorer & Browse so sloooow ..

Hi,

When I try to open Windows Explorer, my system just sits for about 20-30
seconds before opening Windows Explorer. Similarly, when I'm uploading a
file to a web site, when I click a 'browse' button, the system takes about
20 seconds to open up my win exp view. Clicking on each folder takes about
10 seconds before it opens. This problem doesn't occur in Internet Explorer.

I've searched around and I can dismiss large folders - some of them only
have a few files.

XP SP1 with all updates as of yesterday.

Any ideas?

Scan with current antivirus using updated definitions. Then remove
spyware/malware with Spybot Search & Destroy and/or Ad-aware. Did that
help? If not, please post back with more details, including system
specs.

Thanks for your reply.

The problem was due to McAfee Virusscan 7 system scanning - its not possible
to have a selective email-only scanning with virusscan so its been dumped.
