Windows Explorer - abrupt termination HELP ME !

I use windows explorer to locate and view both photo files .JPG and short
video clips with extension .AVI Windows XP sp2 - Windows Explorer program
abruptly terminates with same error message "Instruction 0x07ca415b
referenced memory at 0x0000000. The memory could not be written". click
cancel to debug or ok to terminate..... debug locks up cptr and after 2
minutes a message comes back advising that some "Dr Waton postmortum debugger
has encountred a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for inconvenience."

Also - in explorer I am viewing "file details" and not thumbnails or
filmstrip, just the file details to locate files I wish to open with Nikon or
AdobePhotoshop etc.

The first reference of characters is different each time explorer
malfunctions, the second string 0x000000. is the same each time....

If I am opening a file of JPG photos that do not contain any AVI, the
windows explorer does not abort and works just fine. However, when I open a
file containing both JPG photos and AVI - as soon as I scroll down to the AVI
the explorer program aborts and I get error message. The scrolling could be
jsut a matter of the actual few seconds for me to scroll or could idea of the
AVI coming into view on screen...

I have not a clue what to do. I did just finish comparing settings on my
office and home computer - both xp sp2. Office works great with not problems
encountered. I noticed one possibility of a difference. Windows explorer at
home and my office both say under Tools/Folder Options/File Types the file
extension AVI is referenced to file type Video Clip and opens with Windows
Media Player. Media Player at office is version 10 while Media Player at
home is version 11...... Don't see what difference this could be but i am
putting all noticed details into this message so hopefully someone can give
me some solid advice..
Thanks, Buster T
