windows driver updates

I ran a indepth scan of my computer on microsofts' web
site which notes that i need to update almost all my
drivers on my computer. I downloaded the files to my
desktop but have not yet installed. How necessary is it
to update these drivers eben though I am not having
problems? I still change and add programs to my computer
and am worried that at some point I may run into
difficulties. What criteria does MS use to post these
updates?

Drivers should only be updated if there is an issue you hope or expect
the driver to resolve.
Otherwise, if it is not broke, don't fix it.
Also best to get drivers directly from the hardware manufacturer.

This does not apply to Critical and Recommended Updates.
You should always install Critical Updates and install the Recommended
Updates that you determine apply to you.
