Windows does not always start

Sometimes windows xp home does not start. Often it takes
7 - 15 tries to get it to boot. The symptoms are
immediately after it boots I receive a blank black screen
and the cursor blinks several times and then the screen
flickers and returns to the black screen follwed by the
following message.

IntelUNDI PXE -2.0 (build0820)
copyright (c) 1997-2000 Intel Corp.

Realtek RTL (A/B/C)/RT8130 PCI Fast Ethernet Controller
v.2.10b (00109)

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check Cable
PXE - MOF Exiting PXE ROM
Operating System not Found

To date I have performed Norton antivirus and it shows
that I have no viruses. I have disabled the bios startup
because I thought that might be it. Without the startup
it just goes to the blank screen and operating system not
found. It seems like several others are having similar
problems but is it hardware or software? Windows runs
fine when it boots. Windows can preloaded on the laptop
so re-installing so not that easy.

So, did you ever actually "check your cable" as the message
suggests? In fact, check all your cables by unplugging and
re-plugging them. It sounds like hardware to me.

Its trying to boot off the network card becuase the hard drive cannot be
found. This is a HARDWARE fault. Take to service center.
