Windows do not show on top

When switching from window to window the selected window doesn't always show
on top. Sometimes I have to actually minimize each window until the one I
need is the one left maximized. This is really a pain when switching from
Internet Explorer to Excel to Quickbooks, etc. It is really starting to bug
me and takes up a ton of time when entering data from one app to another.
PLEASE HELP!
